Hi, I want to pledge but currently I can’t decide on the package as I don’t have enough info to decide. Help me, please
1) What are credits? (ingame only currency, or something you can buy for € – for EVEers ISK/AUR, WOTers gold/silver, etc)
2) What is the value of 5000 credits or 10000? Is that enough for a fighter, heavy fighter, capital ship? Is it worth 10,20 or 30€?
3) What is a citizens card? And what does it mean to have either bronze, gold, platinum citizens card? How does the green, silver, gold, bronze, titanium, etc citizens card differ from one another except in color and epeen?
4) Where can I see stats of the ingame ship I’m getting in my package?
5) What do titles mean? Is it a forum e-peen or also ingame e-peen? Is it Slovenian Navy E-peen? (don’t answer this last one)
6) What are blueprints and how are they useful? Is it an ingame item? (probably)
7) The “Go Boldly” package: is the half a day with CR one on one as well or spent with other miserable rats who pledge the same amount?
8) What is the 1 Million Mile High Club Ownership? Is it a digital estate, where you can hang with your friends, and throw “access denied” to all unwanteds? Will it be visible orbiting the Earth, Moon or Jupiter? Can you decide where you want to have it? Will you be bale to customize it?
9) Is the “Hang with CR for a day..” offer one on one as well or spent with pierats the could chunk the same amount of cash?
UPDATE:
10) Can packages ships be earned ingame by any gamer in released game?
11) How long would it take for an average player to earn the amount of say 5k credits?
12) Do pledges stack? say a $60 and $65? Does it bump you to the $125 pledge or are you stuck at the $60 pledge?
To be updated. Some of these don’t apply to me (duh) but people might find the answers interesting.
Br,
T.
T.-October 12, 2012 at 6:20 am #12167October 12, 2012 at 6:23 am #12172I realize you guys must be real busy, but I agree it would be really nice if you could sort of elaborate a little more on the pledges.
If I may add a couple more questions?
I’m definitely going to pledge to this, because I want to support you. But the tier rewards are a bit meaningless to us at the moment. A constellation class ship sounds totally rad, but is this something that we could obtain through standard in-game methods after a couple weeks? Same for the other ships. How hard are things like these to obtain in the game?
Also, is this a constant game world? I don’t mean to corner you into labeling it an MMO if it isn’t, but I’m just trying to get a handle on the game in general. Are we entering instanced zones with only so many people, or will we all be separated by servers?
Sorry if I’m entering “We can’t tell you that yet” territory, but things like this really determine how high I want to pledge.
I still can’t believe Hobbes was a bad guy.October 12, 2012 at 6:28 am #12183This really has to be answered prior to my decision which package to choose. I don’t have loads of money to spend, but if it will make a huge impact on my gaming experience, in a game that I’m planning to play for quite some time, it might be worth cutting back on other things.
Please give us some additional information.

I can answer this one to my ability: Squadron 42 is the single player experience in the world of Star Citizen which will be the MMO-like experience. Now the MMO experience will consist of (but I don’t know how they’ll integrate everything logically) battles in the style of WOT/BF3 (from CR’s plea on GDC online) and from doing missions for Navy, with which you earn citizenship. Space will supposedly be free to roam (not EVE style point in space) but due to quote: “size of the universe and unlikelihood that people stumble upon each other, chance battles will be instanced”.
Hope that helped.

Yep..same situation. I don’t know what to pledge at the moment. It’s changing between 125 and 250 $ atm.
KJ // Being a space cowboy is like riding a rocket – fast and loud.October 12, 2012 at 7:16 am #12248All very good questions, I am definately going to pledge, but not until I know the difference between the packages in more detail. Some of the package list what role the ship is geared towards, other do not. I would also like to know wether or not they can be earned ingame as well or not. An idea of how much the in game credits are worth (what we can buy with each amout roughly) or how long would it take for an average player to earn the amount would also be extremely useful. Also another question which many are asking is wether or not mutliple pledges from the same account stack; say a $60 and $65? Does it bump you to the $125 pledge or are you stuck at the $60 pledge?

October 12, 2012 at 7:59 am #12293I already went for the Lancer Ship Pledge, couldn’t help myself.
But would love to hear the answers to some of those questions as well.October 12, 2012 at 8:14 am #12315Honestly I think if you pledge more than the cost of the game you should get a chance to have something in game named after you (ship, station, gate, moon, planet, star, system, nebula, etc). It would be a chance like a lottery or something. Anything over 250 maybe 500 should be a guarantee. Also, there should be one more variation of the “meeting Chris” reward. Maybe have an event sometime next year where anyone 250 and up gets to go and Chris will just shake hands and do a brief hour or two long conference on how things are going. I wish that could be for everyone but I doubt that could be budgeted.
Also, everyone who contributes anything at all should be able to submit designs for ships, planets, moons, and stations, with no guarantee of them being approved of course.
I’m going to wait until there are more specifics about what each pledge gets, but I’ll be doing either 500 or 1000.
October 12, 2012 at 8:16 am #12320I’d love to pledge for the Lancer Ship Pledge as well but the 42 pages manual for modders is kind of a buzz kill to me because I’m not qualified to mod but the trade/exploration ship seems more interesting to me than the other one. I wonder if it’s possible to do an exchange. (Yeah I’m annoying ^^)
October 12, 2012 at 8:28 am #12344Thanks for making this thread Triglav! I’m another one who is waffling between $125 and $250, with much the same questions.
I do have one more question that’s not listed yet: On the Star Citizen overview page, the pledge packages listed in the sidebar say $5 shipping for citizen’s cards outside the US, except for the $250 package which says $15 shipping (I’m not counting the high-end packages which have free shipping). However, on both the NA and EU backup pledge pages, all the packages with a shipping cost list the shipping as $15. Which is right?
October 12, 2012 at 8:31 am #12350You are welcome
I’ll update the OP shortly. Myself I’m currently between the 100€ Lancer package and the 200€ package. But I want more info before I pledge. Also the modding book I wants, I will probably jump into it.Also, why don’t higher offers get more than 1 book, why only 1 per package?
T.-October 12, 2012 at 8:32 am #12352In response to Rath, I for one am glad they didn’t offer to name stuff after the big pledgers. The way they’re doing it with some KS projects is pretty lame.
October 12, 2012 at 8:35 am #12355@Specter: Hey, another XvT veteran here. *S* Greetings sir.

Now also has a “Chris Roberts clock”
October 12, 2012 at 8:42 am #12366i am with everyone else in this thread i’d like some more details on the pledges.
Time is the most valueable and the cheapest commodity we have, use it wisely.October 12, 2012 at 9:46 am #12424There was an RSI post on Facebook (a reply to somone else’s comment) that said they would allow people to upgrade once the main pledge site and database were up and running again. I went for the wingnut for the moment but am also on the fence for the come fly with me $250 option. I doubt they’ll be able to give stats at this point, with all of the balance issues that will no doubt come into play especially. But an idea of role for the ships and capabilities would be nice. They did say the constellation would be a top of the line fighter like the Centurion from Privateer, and I would suspect that will have a turret since the Centurion did and with the ‘come fly with me’ name. But I’d love to know if it also might be a halfway decent explorer/trader ship since there weren’t any options for that above Lancer.
October 12, 2012 at 12:18 pm #12566I’m all ready to make a pledge, but would also REALLY like a bit more info on the ship types and citizen card associated with the tiers. Ready to pull the trigger as soon as I’m reasonably sure I’ve got the right one for me.
October 12, 2012 at 12:59 pm #12603Unortunately I cannot modify the OP any more :S These forums need some srs tweaking.
T.-October 12, 2012 at 1:44 pm #12630Not going to lie. I need some of these answered as well, because this is what is holding me back from making my $125+ Pledge. I am a huge time fan of all his games and I want to put in the appreciation he deserves, but I can’t quite do it without those details.
October 12, 2012 at 1:53 pm #12639Yeah I need to give you guys my money
But I am having a hard time figuring out the packages as well. Hope we can hear from someone soon as to when we can get the infoOctober 12, 2012 at 2:07 pm #12654Yeah, info needed ASAP.
They limit pledges to 30 days, then don’t provide info for them.
I don’t know what to pledge as well. All these questions are good (bravo
) and in need of answering.I don’t get it why was it so hard to provide more info/pictures if you already have a sales plan for them (and even ready physical models of ships).
There are some even more important questions about pledges themselves. Kickstarter, for example, tells you immediately how it works – you “reserve” the money, if project succeeds - you get billed, if not – nothing happens. How does this system work?
October 12, 2012 at 3:21 pm #12714October 12, 2012 at 3:37 pm #12734Odd how they didn’t explain any of this. I mean, I don’t know how much 1000 points is in the universe, but that doesn’t concern as much as what are the stats on the ship I’m getting and what is this card?
