Hello everyone! We wanted to provide you with status updates about several of our ongoing projects and things you’ve been asking about.
Stretch Goals
We’re well on our way to $3.5 million, where you’ll unlock… cockpit decorations?! It’s true, and we’re actually getting more excited the more we think about the possibilities. Instead of just having a stock cockpit for your ship, deck it out with bobble heads, dinosaurs, hula girls, photographs and the like… and then show your friends when they visit your ship. And we’d like to know what YOU want to put on your dashboard or around your cabin, so let us know in the comments!
Additionally, we’re going to unlock another star system at every $100,000 between here and $4 million. And as we get there we’ll post telling you the name of the system and giving you the first idea of what you’re going to find there. It looks like we’re already well on our way to system #41!
Citizen Card
Today we’re showing off the “green” Bounty Hunter card. These come with the $60 “Make Mine a Double” tiers and we think they’re a worthy upgrade! Remember that your card will be personalized with your name (or whichever name you choose.) They make a great gift and a nice, subtle way to show people you’re a Star Citizen backer.

RSI Physical Add Ons
We promised these earlier in the week and are very sorry to report that there’s been an unexpected delay getting them into our system. We will have them up before the pledge period ends and you WILL be able to add them, at the current prices, after November 19th (as long as you’ve pledged at least $30 at that point.)

Oh yessssss. As for what I want: trophies. Things that show off my accomplishments. A Vanduul bandolier here, scrap from a destroyed pirate base there. Those kinds of things. Maybe, if you create things like flight certificates for higher tier ships, I could display my diplomas for the classes I would have to take. I’d want to display my military medals, assuming we gain any over the course of S42 itself, as well. In addition to anything else. OH AND MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL FUZZY DICE.

Totally agree on trophies! Stuff like a broken helmet(piece) from a famous pirate you shot, a colorful decorative canister with a gas from an area you discovered, a dog tag from a fallen comrade, a mysterious relic from a lost civilization you found in a piece of space debris.
The options are almost endless. Some trophies should be attainable for all while others could be unique artifacts.
Trophies? Medals? Skulls and corpses of my victims!! xDD

All of these and also ‘random encounters’ in planetary locations:
In bars, repair shops, commodity stores etc..
They are not any FPS-engine related – more like the old-school quests with puzzles/RPG elements
As you enter any location – you got a chance of encounter. Encounter can be an item or side-plot
Items can be rejected if you dislike them (or maybe have the same already)
Encounters:
some of them are complete rubbish – like a torn boot or a handful of dust (still can b of weird value for someone)
Some are nice little things like coins, pieces of art, digital pieces of lore and random info (you able to collect an actual digital LIBRARY), artifacts, animal sculls, simply credits etc
And there are really interesting side-story/minigame -driven items
The example of such mini-story-game:
1) You enter a bar and can encounter a gambling party – playing some unusual game the rules of which you should learn first. You got an option to join. You play low with them. Then you leave the planet
2) From now on you have a chance to meet another gamblers and play higher stakes. Strip them clean and you are able to play higher tier….etc…
3) Finally you unlock the final rank of this encounter and enter the underground (or maybe the opposite – hyped official) Championship. If you win it u get the item
Same rules apply to any RPG story. Actually, it applies to ALL of them

I just read all written and realized, that i’m talking about whole new skill-like vanity-encounter mini-game aspect
It would be cool if along with your encounters you gain some perk randomly. I mean at first it is random, but with time it begins to affect your encounters:
‘Lucky coin’ – if you randomly get 100 credits encounters then you gain +0.5% the next your encounter will be credits. Next 100 encounters +0.6% etc etc
‘Garbage man’ – if you encounter 1000 garbage pieces then your next chance to get it is +0.5%
‘Jukebox’ – more than 500 music tracks encountered and +0.5% till next 500
‘Bookworm’ – same with information pieces
AND!
When you reach 10% of perk and then 25, 30, and max -31% – you become more and more proficient with this perk so you can upgrade your hud/interior stuff
‘Bookworm’ at 31% can acqure a stylish HD holo-projector
‘Jukebox’ – oldschool hi-end lamp system (antique from the XXII century)
….i guess you get the vibe…

Dice, bubbleheads and the usual rear-window hangers are a given.
Having something comparable to a polaroid of your girl/spouse/kids would be really great. In other words, the ability to add your own pictures to the game and have them displayed on your ship.
I also like the idea of having trophies displayed on your ship. I’d like to decorate the cabin on my (soon to be aquired) RSI Constellation with insignias of my beaten foes. And with my diplomas or proof of citizenship.

I would love to have a pet of some sort as a in ship decoration. Nothing big, just something to keep you company in the vast emptyness of space.

Yes, we shall name our corgi Ein and have fuzzy dice above our “windshield”. Custom interior would also be pretty cool, maybe some extra gauges to show things that aren’t supported by the ships computer, and also some ability to customize our outside art. While having pre-mades is cool a system like Forza 4′s is something to look into since it allows a lot of variation like you would see in real life and teams would be able to share and create art for themselves to show their image.
i’m not big on cockpit decorations, but someone in chat mentioned leather seats for their constellation (maybe add to that some nice wood trim?). seems like a…fitting idea. kids these days like their neon lights, so maybe changing cockpit / instrument lighting? lastly, chris has mentioned nose art, but i’d like to expand that to wing / tail art. google up some pics of the f-14 tomcat to get an idea; i think that would be cool! dibs on the “jolly rogers”!
I like the idea of a custom dash as well as lighting, too. Like trim levels in cars, maybe even different coloured cockpits and the option to change the backlighting on some gauges. Or Yellow/Red/Blue readout text.

That would be awesome. Pictures of home, anomalies, a fleet of ships. I would really like scale models of ships. Physical and/or holographic. A little hologram of the galaxy or my home system would be cool too.

I would not say no to companions though, mechanical, holographic (like the veteran rewards holopets and holograms of other ships and characters in SWG), pets from remote and weird location that could leave slime all around the ship… Oh and of course upgraded tactical consoles and maps.
Otherwise I agree that trophies would be something nice to have. I loved the hero’s cabin at the end of X-wing alliance.
It might be nice to take a real life picture (husband, wife, family, etc) and post that in your cockpit like they did in WWII and onward.

Imagine you can acquire a mailbox from provider inside the game and you can use it only from in-game interface but it is not just PMs to friends – you actually can mail anyone!!

I find this cockpit stuff a bit pointless. I mean if we’d really decorate our ship interiors why don’t do it with our own custom photos, posters etc?

I find this stuff pointless as well. Yes, it’s nice gimmick, but I think the money/time could be spend a lot better. Please invest that time in a larger variety of ships, planets, space stations, weapons, cargo, etc instead. For example, there will probably a thing like a construction kit for space stations. When I say more space stations then I mean actually more of these construction kits, not just more space stations that all look the same.

I was going to suggest a slightly curled photo frame to upload your own photos. But that’s not the world of SC. It should be an electronic portrait frame that can display your favorite pics and change them at your whim. Just flick through them like an iPhone photo library. A perfect use of your Oculus Rift and Leap Motion.
I’d like to customise the lighting in my cockpit – add some plasma balls, a lava lamp (is it zero-g in my cockpit?) or neon strips.
I’d love to see a few things that we could do to personalize our cockpits:
Gamers love to add their own lighting effects to their gaming systems. So maybe add some lighting accent options to the instruments, monitors, etc. Possibly put in some lights under panels… things like that.
Classes of ambiance… some players may want to add in silly stuff like fuzzy dice and bobble heads. Others may want nice, polished finishes, leather, and luxury. I’d likely make my small fighters feel like they are being held together with duck tape. Lights are held onto metal bars with paper clips and flicker every now and then (especially if you take a hard hit, maybe dim if you hit the after burner or jump drive), metal edges are rusted, cheap chairs that look really uncomfortable. Think Firefly.
That touches upon an idea of different textures for surfaces in the cockpit. Smooth, luxury to futuristic (well… present day in SC time), or cheap, falling apart. Add in lighting effects to match?
Trophies. Dog tags, ship scraps, etc.
I wouldn’t mind a wet bar in my high class cockpit… I wonder what the UEE’s stance on that is…
I second your suggestions. Would also add that the ‘pet’ system some want (to not be lonely on a ‘Stella) could be supplemented by the fact you can ‘hire’ NPC’s. So maybe you can hire a hot chick from some planet you spent a bit of time at and have more involved dialogue (kind of a real-sh) relationship.. Makes for more immersion.
Beyond that some suggestions would seem more suitable for a couple years after release- as add-ons that lets you find or save an alien or animal ‘pet’ (could be useful when boarding or being boarded to have a Space German Shephard).. and until then before we start playing the sims with our ships and choosing each individual ship decoration.
I didn’t mean beyond your suggestions above, I liked all yours, I meant that second paragraph to some of the stuff other people are coming up with.
Like you said, it would be cool to add ‘room decorations’ ala Skyrim.. The galley ‘room decoration’ could add a wet bar.. and the ‘room decorations’ could be of three options rag-tag, luxury, or futuristic.. That would be cool.
That is just what i wanted to suggest.
Different Cockpit textures or themes from polished and brand new to scratched and rundown.
It would also be nice if you could customize what the monitors in your ship show you.
An option to install additional systems, like target-computers, scanners, or other advanced (expensive) ship upgrades.
And a music player that plays your own music files, like the Radio in GTA.
I want some ambiant LED lights in the cockpit to change the overall feel of the cockpit. You can choose the colors, the position of the lights, make them react to ship AI ( like flashing red all over when you have an incoming missile, peaceful blue during cruise, maybe something else if incoming call…) you get the idea!
I do like this. You could use a lighting toggle to change the lighting and use it like a reminder. Switch it to a green/blue when you’re in “safer” systems, and toggle it to yellow/orange when you’re in the lawless sectors, and yeah, red for combat!

Things I want in my cockpit:
- A turret-cam-touchscreen, for aiming targets and to use it as a rear view mirror
- A manual fly-by-wire-override-system (selfmade with slack cables, clamps in different colors, you know what I mean?), cause the way the swing-wings of the hornet work makes no sense in space! Would be better, if you can swing only one wing back for fast turns and so on…
- Some sticky tape to bring on a pinup of my girlfriend!

If it is not TOO much trouble, it would be very awesome to be able to upload .jpg or .gif files as custom photographs. That way I we could put up photos of our sweethearts… right beside the dinosaurs!
It would allow some sweet photos of “Vintage Earth”, you know, from the time before RSI gave us the stars.

Great update btw. This game is what I’ve been awaiting for a long time.
I have always wanted stuff like a gun rack/cupboard to store weapons etc. Would be cool to buy some wepaons from the local blackmarket and then put them in a hidden store or something. A game table like the Millenium Falcon with games you can purchase for. An actual cabin with clothes etc in would be cool. I know this is coming away from the main game but stuff like this would really add immersion etc.
A Chess Board for my Constellation that you can play a game with. A Dinner table, for eating, chatting with friends, and negotiations… Mood lighting, a stereo to put on some relaxing music, and of course a comfortable chair, with a lamp and choice of books to dip into
Not hugely into cockpit decorations accept maybe a photo. But kill markings on the side of my ship(s) would be amazing!

I want chess board too. I would like to have “real” chess to play with person on board as well as virtual chess to play ‘long range’. It could store different games, so I could play several games for several days:D It would be awesome to play chess with my archenemy. I like chess but I need to practice:D However I am afraid of cheating, I would be very tempted to use hints from chessmaster on my laptop:D
It would be really cool if there was a designated are on the wall where you could draw. Say, a developer ends up in your ship and leaves an autograph

I would like to see an air freshener ( yes like the silly cardboard tree style! from your car ) Palm tree and several different styles. AS well as perhaps a helmet or the like? Some sort of coffee mug, or Chess pieces? perhaps some sort of marking like confirmed kills. Like ships with lines though them? Anything that is kind of iconic of movies? Alien bobble head for example?

I could think of a holo chess game like in the Millenium Falcon or wouldn’t be a gaming machine running this WC1 arcade style simulator where wave after wave came in? This would be very cool for the trader ships.
I would like to also see Lava lamps, tornado lamps, and other psycodellic like items.
A quick trip to Spensers would likely give more ideas.
Various souvenirs from different places you can visit in the game. Just toys you put somewhere or magnet ones you stick to your fridge(?). They could be sold at special souvenir shops in stations or unlocked as achievements. It would be cool if all unlocked achievement were stickers you could use to decorate you ship
How about a coffee/tea cup holder? maybe one that sticks on your window, and if you got a cup of the good stuff in there and get in a dog fight it’ll get spilt all over and causes some electrical issues if goes on the dash
I wanna be able to deck my ship out with a nice, ugly rug… With a landmine under it to greet boarders.
I wonder – would it be possible to have multiple ships and actually have many of the items mentioned here thus far but be able to activate/deactivate the ones that seem right depending on current mission/scenario? Hope this isn’t too much of a stretch
Being able to place a holographic pin-up girl in the cockpit would seem thematically appropriate.
Changing the primary color of various displays would be nice, too.
Nose art was mentioned in the original stretch goal description, what about other aesthetic changes to the exterior of the ship? Maybe decals that can be placed on other parts of the ship, possibly user-generated decals? Tinting the cockpit glass? Paint schemes?
I’d be happy, though, just to be able to emblazon the name of my ship across some part of the exterior hull.

I second; dog tags, fuzzy dice, air fresheners, chrome skull with glowing eyes, coffee cup/holder, custom photos (WWII style), carbon/wood/neon inlays, leather seats and dashboard, nose/wing/tail art, hula girl…
I’d like to add:
- My old wings / rank insignia from my Squadron 42 uniform.
- Crushed velvet on the dash could be difficult to get right, but is appropriately tacky, I think.
- Mother Mary, Jesus, Crucifix, Buddha, Ganesha, etc.
- Burning incense.
- Brass and crystal cock, cat, dog, etc.
- Ship and weapon manufacturer logos on banners/ribbons.
- Other flags; “Earth first!”, “Never kneel!” and other patriotic/revolutionary babble. Jolly Roger.
- Paper bill/gold coin/money. “Eye on target”…
If we can decorate all of the interior, it’s on a whole other level; paint/colour, safety/political/custom posters, pets/robots, carpets, more trimmings (wood/carbon/etc.), plants, lighting…
Not a visual decoration, but different ship computer voices would be nice.
Ok, that’s all I can think of now.
Huge fan of the sexy girl photos or stickers to warm up cold glass. A digital photo frame might work well, rotating family photos, screenshots, that glossy pic of the dream ship you’re saving for by lugging 9 tonnes of steaming new Pittsburg sludge across the black.
How about taking a page from real life as well, given that the game is designed around functional items, how about the ability to buy a black market GPS, an illegal nab computer telling you the hot shipping routes or weakness in tariff territories…or something that you buy that works with the local space hoodlums and let’s you know where it’s hot. . .likewise could buy a new liberty Police scanner/radio thingy. And find where the action is.. . .
1) Flight Manuals -perhaps gives a bonus to repair times if accessed…
2) Stock exchange trading details live feed based on your cargo – assume this will be a upgrade anyway – but live feed showing would be good.
3) live feeds from real world social media or RSS feeds
4) tv or radio a la GTA 4 – tv could be youtube videos…
I would like to have to option to put up notes in my cockpit. Post-it’s or something like that. Just something to make a note of something important or such. Would be a nice feature. Also… wait for it… radio! Or atleast a jukebox. Something to make space less silent.

I so want captain Kirks chair to replace the bridge one, its just so perfect for being in command!!!!
I’d like to see a Wing Commander 3 style holovid viewer so you can watch future movies while you drift through the void. Maybe you can replay a “dramatization” of your SQ42 exploits on it after you’ve finished the campaign. Or if other players are equiped with one you can have a 3D video (like in WC4) instead of just their mug up on a little comm VDU.
Its going to have to be an Angry Birds toy in my cockpit haha
I would like a map of everywhere you have been in that ship, it doesn’t have to be anything fancy just a doted line tracing the path of your ship through the stars. It would just be cool to see where you have been and where others have been at a quick glance.
For decorations I would like model ships, and e-ink based photo slideshow which mimics a polaroid, which we can set which photos cycle through.. we deffinatly also need toy dinosaurs …like a leaf on the wind

1) For a cargoship I would love a messy cockpit to go with my roleplay as a big and lazy captain. Who leaves oilspills on the dashboard, open panels with wire needing fixing. Food wrapings left on the floor. Dirty ship on the outside too. blaster burns he didn’t bother to clean up after repair and such. Not so much “star trek clean” but more “warhammer 40K style dirty”
2) Star charts on paper with elecktronik ink of sorts.
3) A pet in the form of a small box with a red dot in the middle that I will name “H.A.L.L.”
4) Pottet plants or flowers in the living quarters
5) A notebook or a Journal
6) Pictures like it has been said.
7) Post-it stickers with little “Note to self”

I think a space pet would be so fun too. A little alien running in a hamster wheel.
Definitely hula girls, bobble heads, dice, kill count, dog tags, space hamster/jelly fish, small mini games, etc. All those things that everyone mentioned a few times.
But more than that, it would be sweet if they were all interactive once you turn on Auto-pilot. So you hop in the ship, punch in your destination:
- Then boot up Joshua and he asks if you’d like to play a nice game of chess.
– or any other funny little games you create…
- You feed the space hamster and watch him run around in his wheel.
- You turn on your sound system and listen to some tunes from your own PC
I REALLY want to be able to listen to my music collection while cruising the systems and crank it up before I get to scrapping with some bounty I’m after
oh and obvious dinosaurs are obvious…
I absolutely love the model ships in my Mass Effect cabin, it would be nice to have something similar in Star Citizen.
As for cockpit decorations, this can go a couple of ways, the fun way, bubbleheads, dino’s and such. And the serious side, a picture of the misses,hubby, family, kid dog and such.
An actual killcount with painted skulls or bullets on the side of the ship could be a nice detail.
A classic working (car) radio playing all the old rock songs of the 80′s. You could also mix in the occasional ( real world ) news bulletin.

I’mm glad to see this game is getting so much money for development.
What I would like to see is a way to paint your ship and have custom decals and stuff, Enough so no two ships look the same, (unless people make them look the same like on purpose like in a clan or something). I want an unparalleled amount of customization for my ship because you spend so much time in it. Down to gun sights on turrets and color/material of the seats ect. who is with me?
Also fuzzy dice is a must.

Cockpit decorations? What? Please spend your artists’ precious time on making more ships and star systems, not on useless items such as cockpit decorations. Decorations may be fun to look at for a few minutes, but star systems and ships add replayability and fun. Especially since you don’t have a big publisher backing you, make sure you spend your, no wait, *our* money well!

What I would deeply enjoy in my cockpit, is a little clipboard with paper placed somewhere, where I can write notes. Every player ends up writing a bunch of stuff on paper during their play sessions IRL, for quick ref or memory notes. Why not having that feature in our cockpit. That would be immersive.
I saw you were commenting that we’re close to getting System #41 (at 3.1 million); and you’d be giving info on the systems from this point on. Well, while I don’t have a suggestion for System 41; I think System #42 should have talking mice and dolphins .(and maybe we also get an ‘Infinite Improbability Drive’ engine module upgrade.

The only way my potential future girlfriend is going to accept me playing this game as much as i fear i will is if i have a picture of her in my cockpit. So I’ll def. be wanting that. A genuine photograph would be great, looks much cooler then a digital frame-thing. It’s a nostalgia-thing. More organic. I’d be wanting to have something that i can touch. Paper is good that way. And it’s easy to pocket if I’ll have to leave the ship to go talk to some traders or smugglers. Never go anywhere without a picture of my potential future girlfriend in my pocket. Damn, I do not come off as the suave, smooth-talking charmer that I like to think I am in this comment.

Unlocking sexy posters of “hot” NPC’s you encounter across the universe to put up in the cabin would be cool. Like at the end of a mission chain from a bossy female NPC you can unlock a sexy librarian version of her to put up. Also someone mentioned pets. I think maybe there could be some way of showing friends exotic animals we’ve collected in our travels, species native to their planet. Maybe kill/capture a famous pirate NPC and you adopt his sterotypical parot. Use that idea you have to name the parot after me! =D
Star citizen already has an “intergalactic trucker radio show” – Clean Shot Shipping update” how about an old tyme CB or radio that folks could listen in to tales of space trucking (or fan created ones hosted as a reward on that channel? way to get the community involved)

I’m going to agree with others here about uploading our own photos that we can have, like WW2 pilots putting pics up of their loved ones. Plus when my GF nags me about playing to much I can point to her photo in the game and proclaim “I’m doing this for her! To make the galaxy safer for her! This is what keeps me going!” She will then most likely roll her eyes and go to bed >.>

I think the coolest thing you could do for ship decorations would be to allow for user-generated content, similar to Team Fortress 2′s hat thing. Though I can think of several problems with doing this. But if you could make it work, I think that would be great.
Otherwise, fishtanks would be cool.
Just thought of this, a clock. That tells the real time (from your PC clock). Not very immersive, but it could also display the standard galactic time (or w/e we’re calling it). Heck, maybe this is already a planned part of the cockpits.
A clock that shows the real time and in-game time would flat out make this game usable for me. I can’t count how many times I’ve lost track of time in a space sim…
Personally, I am like the dinosaurs. That is just the brown coat in me. Though, I am partial to small figures for anime and other characters. They are small, compact, light weight and can be placed on any flat surface. They don’t even have to real world characters, I can imagine ‘chibi’ figures for in game personalities. As other people here already posted, a radio would be great. At least for some star systems with news on the latest events like: “pirates attacked a transporter an got away, the transporters pilot got killed…..”, “the explorer “soandso” found a new star system….”, “new resources were found, what floods the market and lowers the prices……”
Some advertisments for the companies new products would be nice too or about places to be in the star system.
And a jukebox to play your own songs, but this could actally be done by running a music player on the background.

Uhmmm pictures & holograms, various kinds of junk hovering in a tiny suspension field (rocks & meteorites, The One Ring, skull of some alien rodent), a boombox/sound system, atmospheric lighting system, a toilet (gotta go when you gotta go) and bunkbed with a choice of covers/sheets (plain, design, spaceships, ponycorns, etc), magazines & books, liquor bottles..

Has it been confirmed if there is going to be romance options? One of the great aspects of games like Mass Effect was the interpersonal relationships.
Being able to build friendships (and romance) with characters in game leads me to my agreement with the suggestion of having pictures of friends or loved ones in the cockpit.
Also, a cupholder in case I decide to have a beer while exploring a sector.

Decoration suggestion: A locket hanging from someplace equivalent to the rearview mirror, with a spot inside into which you can upload a custom photo. That would be the best cockpit decoration ever.
