I discovered Star Citizen about 9 years ago. I spent my first two years buying concept sales. Although staying as a subscriber to see how things would turn out, I took a break from actively playing. When the 2020 pandemic left me with extra time at home I decided to try this game again.
Some changes I noticed when I returned:
- They added more FPS ground combat if you care for that sort of thing (I don't as I prefer ship to ship combat).
- The Squadron 42 game seems to be actively progressing.
- Arena Commander has evolved into something better. Ship combat is done well with features being tweaked and added constantly. (Still no ship armor yet though?)
- The stand-alone hangars are gone.
- So many of those early concept ships are now in-game and flyable! (Sweet!)
- The alpha persistent universe is immersive and fairly stable with only a few crashes a day. It should be ready for a beta stage in a couple of years once more features are added (such as cargo and exploration).
