History

Hello everyone, and welcome to the main page of Phoenix United!

Whether you are a member or not, all are welcome to enjoy and participate in what we have to offer. While our main focus is to be a community of casual and regular players, the org serves as a backdrop for its other main attribute, an alternate reality story set in the Star Citizen universe.

While this story will not strictly adhere to the lore of Star Citizen, sorry lore junkies, it will instead bring new life and nuance to known locations and factions. With that out of the way I am excited to introduce you to “From Ash and Blood – Phoenix Rising”, a story a long time in the making with a lot more on the way. Please enjoy the first part of the story and do stick around for new developments.

I hope you all enjoy and participate with us on this journey. See you all in the ‘verse.

Part 1: Ghost in the Dark

Space is a place of dreams and lost time. Tali eased herself back into her captain’s chair as she felt a sudden rush of anxiety she could not explain. As the feeling subsided, she found her mind drifting among the sea of stars that lay before her. It had been less than a year since she was promoted to Captain of the UEE Perseus class gunship “Dauntless” touring the Stanton system. It was far superior to the Hammerhead she was stationed on in Pyro for the year prior, but such are the necessary stations if she ever wanted to be leading her own battlegroup one day. Her daydreaming was short lived as a commotion at one of the engineers’ stations recalled her to her duties. Picking up her data pad she reviewed the logs from the last rotation, doing the necessary due diligence to spot any anomalies other crew members may have missed. She was interrupted though as one of the bridge engineers spoke up.

“Captain Ori,” the engineer stated, “we have an alert transmission coming in on all frequencies, someone seems to have hijacked the comm relays in the system and is broadcasting openly.”

Tali looked up from her data pad with concern at the engineer across the command deck. She had held this position for less than a year, a very uneventful year to be certain but this hijacking presented a concerning new breach in security.

“Put it through and contact Admiral King, inform him of the situation.” Tali commanded, setting down her data pad and activating her comm. “Bridge to CIC, try and track the signal back to its source, find out which relay it is coming from and transfer the coordinates to the bridge.”

“Affirmative Captain, stand by.” The CIC officer answered.

Tali looked forward to the pilots’ station, “Helmsman be prepared to receive coordinates and lay in a course.”

The pilot looked back at her replying, “Affirmative Captain, holding for a new course.” The ship suddenly became a flurry of movement as crew members manned their stations and brought all systems online. As quickly as the commotion started, it ceased as all waited for new orders.

The engineer looked back from his station once more, “Transmission starting now.” Over the ship’s comm young man’s voice spoke, calm and thoughtfully as he began his speech.

To the citizens of Stanton and the UEE, let me tell you all a story. A story where the beginning is already set in stone, but with an end which has set into motion events which will change history.
-
The year is 2610. During the end of the second Tevarin War a young scavenger, along with his wife and son bore witness to the carnages of war. As the UEE relentlessly pursued the remnants of the Tevarin and crushed all opposition, the scavengers’ ship would lay hidden amongst the debris so as to loot the battlefield for scrap metal. The family, being human yet unaligned to either side, faced the threats that besieged them all around. Years of conflict continued, and as the citizens of the UEE became more unsettled with its current regime the scavenger became convinced that the confines of the UEE would never truly be safe for his family. This belief laid the groundwork for one of the pillars of a new purpose; to make security for oneself, and those left behind by the empire which said would protect them. As years passed and this belief was carried from generation to generation of the scavengers’ offspring, this core principle evolved and grew into something more, a community. After many years from what once was a family struggling to survive, an organization of pilots and protectors formed; a group that fought for their protection, profit, and ideals. Unfortunately, this all changed when the Vanduul attacked Orion.
-
The year is 2712, the descendant of the scavenger along with his organization had made their camp on Orion II protecting groups of settlers expanding the frontier, away from the bustling UEE colony of Armitage. A deal had been struck with the UEE Navy to provide additional support in case of any Vanduul threat. Times were peaceful, and no Vanduul had shown up for years; so, what harm would there be in taking his pilots to scout for habitable planets in another system. Off world and with the UEE’s word the descendant was complacent, and in one swift and terrifying move, the battle of Orion began. The descendant returned not long after the battle had ended. Few survivors of the settlements he swore to protect remained barely clinging to life, and of those all told the same story. The UEE had abandoned them to the Vanduul to ensure Armitage could be evacuated. No settler survived, no man, woman, or child was shown mercy by the monsters the UEE sought on them. In the wake of the massacre the organization went underground, and none of its members were ever heard from again.
-
The year is 2945, in the wake of the Battle of Vega II and the subsequent start of the Vanduul war, rumor told of a young man who would have no record or ID walking into a bar to meet a few ex-UEE personnel. Of course, no-one knew then that this would be the recently unfrozen descendant, fresh out of cryo-sleep. Seven people walked out of the bar that day, and with that, Phoenix United would be born. Over the next two years the UEE would hear rumors of an organization offering protection to the frontier systems of Pyro and Nyx. What started off as a small group, had flourished into a thriving organization which began to rival the Nine Tails and even XenoThreat. This organization was not as focused on public image though preferring to stick to the shadows and occasionally strike out at any threat, pirate or UEE. Please believe me when I say we tried to make a life for ourselves again, but you UEE madmen crossed a line with what you built, and something needed to be done. It’s too bad, it was almost a nice end to the story, we were so close when you killed us all.
-
The year is now 2953, I had lay adrift in a cryo-pod unconsciously watching the debris of my comrades’ drift around me. I thought nothing, I felt even less, all until a scan picked up my bio sign. To whomever logged that report, I thank you, a salvage ship found me and freed me from my stasis. But now that I am here in Stanton you are no longer safe, come find me and learn the truth. And to the UEE out there listening to this transmission your secrets cannot hide forever, checkmate is assured, and how fitting that you will be the last to fall. I reassert myself to stopping your scheme here, bringing you into the light, and exacting my justice upon you for all the wrongs you have committed against me.
-
My name is Aeneas, and I am coming for you.
-

———-//END TRANSMISSION//———-

The silence on the bridge was deafening as the bridge crew looked at each other with nervously. Tali did not even remember standing up, gripping her fists tightly, a look of disbelief across her face. The silence was only broken by the ship’s comm blaring, “CIC to bridge we have a fix on the relay, sending coordinates now.”

Tali did not stir for what must have been longer than a moment as her XO, Rico, spoke first, “Captain, we have our coordinates, ready to depart on your command.”

His words broke her tension as she regained her composure, the words of the speech still running through her mind. “Helmsman set out immediately, I want to be the first to apprehend this man.” she commanded, her voice now resolute. Surely what he said could not be true, she thought, but deep in the back of her mind there was the inclination. She needed to reach him first and find out for herself. As she sat back down the ship hummed and resonated as the quantum drive engaged. With the course laid in, the ship lurched as it hyper-accelerated into quantum travel and began its journey to a comm relay near the Pyro jump point.
