Manifesto

We are a private freelance co-op providing exploration and scanning, transportation for hire, and ride-hailing services on a small scale. We own and operate our own ships and exemplify the Tourmaline dedication to exploring new frontiers with minimal environmental impact.
Tourmaline Star Frontier is run from a place of progressive action and minority empowerment. We believe the universe is too large to not do this. Together we stand strong.

Charter

1. Statement of Purpose
Tourmaline Star Frontier (hereafter referred to as ‘Tourmaline’ or ‘the co-op’) is a service-oriented cooperative organization created to manage and maintain the assets owned by the above and by Madison Tourmaline (founding member), fellow founding members, and fellow members of Tourmaline. Our aim is to help serve local system transit and transportation solutions and to search out new resources, environs and points of interest as a collective.

2. Structure and Ownership 2.1 Board of Directors Tourmaline is owned by its members. The board of directors will be elected on an annual (yearly) interval. The board of directors will be responsible for any decisions concerning the co-op as a whole, as decided by majority vote, as well as for selecting the individuals tasked with the direct day-to-day management of Tourmaline. 2.2 Management Tourmaline is guided by the day-to-day decisions of the management. These decisions include (but are not encompassed by) the distribution of earnings, the approval of new members, the coordination and maintenance of shared members and assets, and the protection of the co-op’s holdings and livelihood. Management is held in part by the following positions:
  • Leader – The frontperson and mouthpiece of the co-op; serves as chairperson in all co-op meetings
  • Assistant Leader – Co-leader of the co-op, tasked with fulfilling the decisions of the board and management and filling in for the Leader when necessary
  • Treasurer – Manages the ledger and keeps a record of assets owned by and shared with the co-op; manages all financial transactions and is tasked with following up on discrepancies
  • Counselor – Keeps an eye on disputes and concerns brought forward by the membership and individuals therein, and seeks to resolve them to the best possible outcome
  • Sword & Shield – Charged with defending co-op holdings and all active operations from unjust attack and seeking to protect those in our care.
Membership positions are decided by election during the yearly meeting or when a vacancy needs to be filled.
    2.3 Ownership of Assets
All assets purchased by and owned by members of the co-op will remain the property of the current owner and will not be held by Tourmaline except in cases where the transfer of such assets from their current owner to the co-op is explicitly granted by the owner, on terms agreed to by all involved parties. All assets having been given by members which have not been directly acquired by the co-op will be returned or renegotiated upon the request of their grantor.
    2.4 Membership
    The membership is defined thusly:
  • Founding members – Founding member and owner of Tourmaline; this position is held by MadisonT (Madison Tourmaline) and KEvergreen (Kingsley Evergreen). Founding members are equal patch members but in addition sit on the board of directors and cannot be removed from the co-op by vote.
  • Patch members – The core members and owners of Tourmaline have voting rights and represent the co-op. Patch members are chosen by unanimous vote by the board of directors.
  • Iron-on members – Patch members without voting rights (except in discretionary situations), who maintain trusted status within the co-op. Iron-on members are chosen by majority vote.
  • Sticker members – Probationary members.
  • T Shirt members – Affiliate members.
    2.5 Succession
In full awareness of the dangers of the frontier, any member who is deceased will bequeath their position and standing in the co-op to their named successor.
3. Member and Affiliate Conduct
  1. Tourmaline relies on its members to honor the spirit with which it exists: to support its members, to provide reliable service to our clientele, to advocate for and defend anyone who is unjustly harmed or attacked and to maintain an honorable reputation. As such members shall:
  2. Abide by all decent and reasonable guidelines in the system they are operating in
  3. Treat others with respect and humility
  4. Never lie to, cheat or steal from other members or affiliates
